Author and activist Ken Ilgunas returned to HPU in Fall 2021 to relaunch Lambda's speaker series after a Covid-induced hiatus. This time, he spoke about his book Trespassing Across America, which recorded his 1,700-mile trek along the route of the disputed Keystone XL Pipeline.
Ilgunas lives in Scotland but visits the United States for speaking tours each fall and spring. On his first visit to HPU, in 2019, he discussed his then-new book This Land Is Our Land, which argues that emphasis on private property rights means Americans are denied access to the nation's wealth of natural beauty and scenic wonder.Ilgunas is now at work on a mini-memoir about his evolution from middle-class American to global travel writer and environmental journalist. And First Amendment advocate.
